Our Take
Best for: Solo foodies and budget-conscious couples who thrive in organized chaos
Bangkok is Southeast Asia's most complete city. You can spend $15/day eating world-class food from street stalls or $150/day at rooftop restaurants — both experiences are legitimate. The BTS/MRT system makes it one of the easiest major Asian cities to navigate solo. The temple circuit (Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Grand Palace) is genuinely stunning, not just tourist-box-ticking.
When to Go
November to February. The 'cool' season (still 25-30°C) with minimal rain. December is peak tourist season but the weather tradeoff is worth it.
Watch Out
Taxi and tuk-tuk scams are real — always use Grab or insist on the meter. The Grand Palace area has the highest concentration of tourist scams in Thailand.
“The best food city in Asia at any budget, wrapped in enough culture and nightlife to fill a week.”
